Need to get an old symbol spark ls1006 to work with this hp laptop running Windows XP Media Center Edition. I've attached a ps/2 to usb adapter to the spark and attached it to a usb port on the laptop. I open notepad and then try scanning a barcode to test. The symbol laser light is seen scanning. The Symbol LS 1000 Spark Series offers excellent bar code data collection performance in retail and light industrial applications. The LS1000 Spark was engineered with an ergonomic design to ensure comfort for extended periods of time. A barcode scanner is used to read or scan the bar code symbol to represent the information to decode. Once the symbol is scanned by a handheld reading device or another, can then be used by computer software to track inventory and perform other functions. I have a symbol Spark ls1006-1000 that I bought used to have for entering book inventory into my online book store. Device has power from the ps/2 port it is plugged into. Since I have a wireless keyboard it the Scanner is the only thing that is plug into the ps/2 port.

Orico pvu3-4p drivers for mac. Symbol scanners are barcode scanners used in conjunction with a POS system. Symbol scanners are lightweight and handheld scanners used in numerous different settings, including retail stores, warehouses and hospitals. In order to start using a Symbol scanner, you must know the procedure to program a Symbol scanner. Prior to programming a Symbol scanner, you will need to have the Symbol scanner handy as well as the user manual.
P5q-vm drivers for mac. Install the software included with the Symbol scanner on your PC. You will need to ensure that your PC has an appropriate connection in order to program the Symbol scanner. Accepted connections include USB cable, RS-232 cord and IBM 46XX.
Connect the appropriate cable to your Symbol scanner. One end will plug into the base of the scanner while the other end will plug into your PC. The power light should go on once the connection is made.
Scan one of the bar codes provided by Symbol with your user manual. If you don’t happen to have the manual handy, you can download a copy from the manufacturer Motorola’s website. The bar code that you scan will depend on the type of cord connection you are using.
Go to the options section of the Symbol scanner user manual. You will see different bar codes that you can scan to further program the device. You can change the beeper tone, volume, power mode and time between decodes.
Use the Symbol scanner to scan and manage your inventory through your PC. Once you scan bar codes and then connect the scanner to your PC, the software allows you to sync the information about your inventory.
Remember to level the laser of the Symbol scanner across the center of the bar code in order to permit an accurate reading.
I'm trying to get a USB laser barcode scanner to work on my MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.8.2). And for some reasons, it does not work. First, I bought a Taotronics TT-BS003. When I plug it in, it does make all the sounds it should do. It scans, but it does not write anything in TextEdit. Looking at the System Information in the USB section, it shows: WIT 122-UFS V2.00: Product ID: 0x1010 Vendor ID: 0x05fe (CHIC TECHNOLOGY CORP) Version: 0.01 Speed: Up to 1.5 Mb/sec Manufacturer: WIT Electron Company Location ID: 0x06200000 / 4 Current Available (mA): 500 Current Required (mA): 500 If I plug this scanner on a PC laptop with Windows 7, the reader scans out of the box and puts the code in Word. Back to the Mac, nothing other then the green light for a successful scan and the ok sound. After talking to their support, it was recommended to return the scanner. So I bought a “different” scanner from a different vendor. But after receiving that scanner, it seems to be the same scanner just with a different brand name. Looking at the System Information in the USB section, it also shows: WIT 122-UFS V2.00: Product ID: 0x1010 Vendor ID: 0x05fe (CHIC TECHNOLOGY CORP) Version: 0.01 Speed: Up to 1.5 Mb/sec Manufacturer: WIT Electron Company Location ID: 0x04100000 / 4 Current Available (mA): 500 Current Required (mA): 500 So how can I get these scanners to work on a Mac. Some people left feedback that they had it working out of the box. One person wrote:

If using it with a Mac, follow these steps: 1) connect it to a USB port on your Mac (the scanner should beep twice). 2) Go into System Preferences and click on Keyboard. 3) Click 'Change Keyboard Type..' which will bring up the Keyboard Setup Assistant. 4) Click Continue and scan a barcode (can be a UPC label from a package / book). 5) Select 'ANSI (United States and others) and click Done.

Well, I scan a barcode but I can never reach the section where I can select 'ANSI (United States and others).
